Flags and Wags

Our Vision
According to many media sources, including the Army Times, 22 veterans commit suicide every day.

At Flags and Wags, our mission is to buddy up a rescue or shelter dog with a veteran, including those suffering with hidden wounds. We believe a pet can assist in the transition of our veterans into their civilian lives including the emotional recovery and companionship that comes with with the assistance of a rescued shelter dog.

Many selected Shelter dogs receive a new ‘leash’ on life, when they are hand picked, to learn the needs and necessities of the specific military veteran.  This veteran will be paired with his or her new ‘best friend’.

The pairing of the service member and shelter dog provides a learning, trusting and loving bond between the two that, no doubt, will have eased or erased the pain the two have been through apart, by bringing them together.

Note:  By 2014 600,000 U.S. Troops will be returning home.
